Contour Line Drawings

Several sheets of plain paper
Ball Point Pen
Tape to hold paper in place
Optional:
Markers
Colored Pencil
Crayons
Contour Drawing is a basic drawing skill.
( I will try to attach some You Tubes)
I will explain more and demonstrate during the zoom session. We will be
observing and drawing hands. First we will make some “blind” contour line
drawings. Then we will practice the skill with just occasional peeks at the
paper. The purpose of this exercise is to work on eye/hand co-ordination.
The resulting drawings usually look a bit abstract or awkward. But in the
world of visual art making a pretty picture is not always the goal and
sometimes an “awkward” drawing can be quite powerful.
You may choose to work the entire time making line drawings
0r you may also add shading and/or color to the line drawings.
Below is an example. After drawing with a pen I used a marker to darken
the lines and then added shading with colored pencil. I introduced some
stars in the background because I have politics on my mind.
We had lots of fun during Linda's guided project!

Enjoy!
