Scratchboard Art with Karen M

 Please have the following  to use for a 'Scratch Board Art' project during the

club meeting:

1.    2 or more prepared 5x7 or larger[but not TOO big]  pieces of
cardstock,or posterboard, or cardboard,such as the cardboard that is
behind a pad of paper.  one piece for practice,  the second for another
try.  Prepare each​ piece by coating with two layers of gesso​ (or white ceiling paint you may already have at home, dry​ completely and then sand lightly with fine sandpaper, before class​.

2.  Assorted crayons the brighter, the better, colors.

3.  Black or navy blue acrylic paint

4.  liquid dishwashing soap

5. assorted tools for scribing or scratching such as wooden shishkabob
skewers​ [both the pointed and flat ends], wooden toothpicks, calligraphy
pen nibs of various sizes, end of a wooden matchstick, etc

6. flat soft brushes for applying acrylic paint

newspaper to protect surface of table, hairdryer, paper towels,
containers of water for washing brushes,  dish or plastic flat lid to
mix paint and dish soap
